St. Peter's Parish Family

Stained Glass Windows

The stained glass windows were installed in 1899. They were imported from Meyer's Studios, Munich, Germany. The windows, as they appear today, were donated by several parishioners and various church groups of that time. Beginning with the window in the front entrance of the Rectory, proceeding to the side entrance of the Church, and continuing down that side of the Church to the back, across the vestibule, and then down the Convent side of the Church, the windows and their sponsors appear as follows:

This Stained Glass window resides in the Parish Family Hall, over the Franklin Street entrance. It is believed that the glass is from the windows that used to flank the old main entrance to the church before the 1964-1965 renovations. These pieces were found in the bell tower and reshaped by Nick and Dave Parrendo of Hunt Studios of Pittsburgh, PA. in 1996. It was given by Kenneth Eichenlaub.

These windows were designed by Maleita Wise and created by Sharon Abel.

This window is symbolic of the male and female energy that lives in each of us.

The sun, spiral - symbol of the growth, radiance and source.

At the other end, yet on the same field of vibrant color -

the moon, symbol in many religions of the female force,

which reflects the male force of the sun.

Our lives are lived in the flow of dark and light,

morning and night, reason and intuition.

May this window be a reminder that we are part of all creation

and that the beauty of our lives will be formed by our own openness

to the darkness and light both in ourselves and where we meet the Self in others.
